Health and Safety Culture in the UK Construction Industry

Every employee regardless of job description has the right to work without fear of injury.  With more people demanding safer working environments, health and safety has come to the fore-front of businesses involved with construction.  The UK government has introduced new legislation recently to protect employees, and to compel employers obligated to provide a safe working environment for all.  But has the message got through?

By studying the health and safety culture of the construction industry, this report seeks to outline current trends and attitudes to health and safety.  It is hoped from this any faults or short-comings by both designers and contractors can be highlighted.

To undertake such a project will require extensive investigations into the industry in regard to both published material and also information gained first hand from those directly involved.

One form of medium to portray the progress and findings of such a study is a website.  By browsing through the website, it is hoped that an up to date presentation of the project can be achieved.
